I have never been good at selfies!

My name is Tim and I am a painter living in Chicago. I am originally from Battle Creek, MI. I came to Chicago to see what life was like in the big city.

My Primary focus with art is reflecting social issues that I see in society. I believe if the universe gives you a voice and the opportunity to use it, it is your responsibility to do so.

Art should provoke thoughts and feelings. It should stir up conversations and debate. With all my paintings I try to evoke emotions while leaving room for the viewer to interpret their own views. Look closely because I love to put in subtle details and use symbology to keep the viewer engaged.

I am self taught and work mostly with acrylics. I have loved art all of my life. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I taught myself as a kid by drawing what I saw in comic books and cartoons. It wasn’t until about 2009 one of my dear friends convinced me to try some chalk pastels not just pencil. I used them and oil pastels for a few years until I finally picked up a paint brush. I have been painting now since 2011 and I love it.

My dog Ciao helps keep me motivated and focused… most of the time.
